With HD TVs become fairly common these days, I was looking to see what it was about improving the gaming experience my home. As someone who plays a wide variety of games, including a recent Call of Duty Black Ops, I was curious about the Limited Edition Tritton AX 720 Call of Duty brand headphones that was recently released and I managed to get his hands on my friend’s.
Now, I’m not someone who usually gets sucked by branded products, especially when they carry a hefty price tag, coming in at just over £ 160. The box itself, I have to say is very cool, but while the presentation is important, I’m more interested to see how well this headset, and whether I would recommend to anyone that they spend this amount of money to improve gaming experience. The headset comes in a series of case that is well designed, the Jet Black has Black Ops logo on it, but I have to say that if it were not included with the headset, it’s certainly not something I would consider buying – it’s little overkill considering I barely move around with my headphones, and if I was, then the bog standard bag would definitely do. Once the package is all very impressive.
So, the actual headset itself. Tritton have a wide range of headphones available, are popular AX Pro is designed to be top of the line models. I’ve been lucky enough to use only a few days, and I must say that it is perhaps the best Xbox headsets available on the market, and it’s amazing pin point true 5.1 surround. The AX 720 is about £ 40 cheaper than the AX Pro, as it does not offer true 5.1 surround sound, even the guys on Tritton have assured us that they have done some magic to tweak the COD Limited Edition version, so it is designed to be significantly better than the standard AX 720.
If you are looking to enhance the gaming experience, then invest in these headphones might be a good choice – the sound quality is absolutely fantastic. It is very comfortable to wear, too – something that is often overlooked, with padded ear muffs and flexible mic. The cable is also plenty long enough – it’s not the point of my room that it will not reach. So what is it like music wise? Well, without a second headset to compare it too, the sound is truly amazing. It is incredibly sharp, with quick responsive bass is not overwhelming. The directional sound is brilliant, and makes playing online games, especially shoot ’em ups find great, if a little scary sometimes!
Overall if you are looking to improve the gaming experience, then invest in a good headset is a great idea – provided that you will get to use it. I often play in my room with the sound and I sat next to friends, the headset will be very limited then. However, if you play online on their A Lot, I would recommend getting one. Should you buy this Limited Edition version? If you want to discuss some cool mixes then this is perfect, but if you want something a little less flash, but still with high quality, then I would maybe recommend ax pros.
